Dial 2-1-1

2-1-1 is a free, confidential, and accessible 24/7 helpline and online service that connects residents of Northumberland County to a wide range of community, social, health, and government resources. Whether in times of crisis or simply seeking information, 2-1-1 provides essential support by offering immediate access to services like housing, food security, healthcare, mental health assistance, employment, and legal services, all through one easy-to-remember number – 211.

United Way Northumberland and our partners are working towards significant improvements to enhance service delivery and case coordination:

  • Improved Case Coordination: New protocols are being developed to improve how 2-1-1 staff collaborate with local agencies. This includes establishing stronger partnerships with healthcare providers, social services, and mental health organizations to create a more cohesive, integrated service model. A more robust case management system is being implemented to allow better tracking of referrals and follow-ups, ensuring that no individual falls through the cracks.
  • System Upgrades: Significant investments are being made into the technological infrastructure of 2-1-1. Upcoming system improvements will enhance data sharing between service providers, streamline referrals, and enable a more personalized experience for callers. These upgrades will help address complex needs more effectively and ensure that all individuals receive the right level of support.
  • Expanded Capacity: Additional staff training expanded call center hours, and strategic partnerships with local service providers are helping 2-1-1 meet the increasing demand and provide timely assistance to call callers.

United Way is proud to partner with Northumberland County Community and Social Services as our platinum sponsor on 211, and Community Living & Respite Northumberland as our premium sponsor, to ensure the most up to date information is available for our community.
