Position Summary
Northumberland United Way is seeking a Community Outreach and Development Coordinator to strengthen our capacity to deliver programs that reduce poverty, empower children and youth, and build strong, connected communities across rural Northumberland County.
This role is a key investment in organizational capacity and will focus on expanding partnerships, developing sustainable fundraising strategies, and piloting community-based programs that respond to local needs. The Coordinator will also support storytelling and communications efforts to increase awareness, engagement, and long-term sustainability.

Northumberland United Way is seeking funding to support a Student Communications and Outreach Assistant position to strengthen community awareness, engagement, and access to local supports.
As demand for services continues to rise, the organization requires additional capacity to effectively share timely, clear, and accessible information with residents, partners, and donors across Northumberland County.
The Student Communications and Outreach Assistant for a 9 week period and they will support the development of digital and community-based communications, including social media content, newsletters, outreach materials, and event promotion. This role will help amplify funded programs, share impact stories, and ensure consistent messaging across platforms, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility. This position will work in close partnership with our Communications and Fundraising Coordinator.
By investing in this position, the grant will enable Northumberland United Way to better connect residents to critical services, strengthen relationships with community partners, and increase awareness of local initiatives aligned with its three impact areas: All That Kids Can Be, From Poverty to Possibility, and Healthy People, Strong Communities. The position also provides meaningful, paid work experience for a student, supporting workforce development while enhancing the organization’s communications capacity and community reach.
