Happy Holidays from Northumberland United Way
As we approach the holiday season with a new year just around the corner, I am reflecting on what has been an unprecedented year for us all. We have had to learn new ways of doing things that were unfamiliar and, at times, uncomfortable. We have come to understand just how vulnerable we all are and how much stronger we are when we lean on one another. At a time when our community is experiencing difficult health and economic impacts due to COVID-19, residents of Northumberland County have demonstrated great commitment to supporting those that need it most.
United Ways across the country have brought outstanding leadership and new partnerships in addressing the unique needs of communities across Canada and we have been witness to the immense opportunity that can exist in a time of crisis. In Northumberland County, we have seen neighbours helping neighbours, strategic and collective efforts within the public and not-for-profit sectors to support those in need, and a surge of compassion from local companies and individuals looking to make Northumberland County even more resilient for the future.
Although many of the challenges we have seen this year will remain well into 2021, I am confident that we will continue to see ingenuity, agility, and strategic collaboration as we focus on strengthening the network of social services support across Northumberland County.
As we close on 2020, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the personal and professional sacrifices made by many people in our community in dealing with the effects of the pandemic.
On behalf of the team at United Way, we sincerely hope you will take time to rest and take care of yourself and your loved ones this holiday season. We look forward to seeing you in the community when it is safe to do so. Stay well and see you next year.
With warmest holiday wishes,
Bobbie Dawson, Executive Director
Northumberland United Way
