BOBBIE LETTER
On behalf of our community, we thank you.
Individual Donors
As the saying goes every dollar counts. Our individual donors are a dedicated group and we couldn’t reach our goal without you! Your collective donations are a quarter of the revenue we received this year.
Are you an individual donor?
Can we recognize you publicly?

Many organizations and hundreds of volunteers and supporters like you make the annual United Way Campaign possible. For the past 50 years, you have continued to come together with others in our community. This year was no different, and we would like to recognize the exceptional commitment, leadership and creativity of our supporters.
This year, we were thrilled to be the recipient of two matching challenges: The Angus Read Leadership Challenge and Kaitlyn Bates’ Butterflies. Thank you to our generous donors The Estate of Angus Read and The Kaitlyn Bates Initiative for making these incredible gifts possible.
Angus Read
Leadership Challenge
Named in recognition of a true community builder; the Angus Read Leadership Challenge was created to celebrate Northumberland United Way’s 50th Anniversary and named in honour of Angus Read, our first Campaign Chair.
While it’s been 10 years since his passing, his legacy continues to make this community better for everyone now through the impact of this matching gift.
Kaitlyn Bates Butterflies’
A special matching challenge generously created by The Kaitlyn Bates Initiative (KBI), Kaitlyn Bates’ Butterflies that raised $16,000 to support Northumberland United Way’s KIDS focus area in honour of Kaitlyn’s 16th birthday.
Industry Partners
United Way could not aim higher each year without local Industry and labour support. We have more than 25 workplace campaigns that run within small, medium and large Industries across Northumberland. Collectively they represent more than $240,000 of our Community Fund.
This year our Leaders in Employee Giving have once again worked tirelessly to raise money for this community. Thank you to all the In-house Chairs and committees, the canvassers, the employees and the corporations for allowing our campaigns in their workplaces.
In recognizing these workplaces, we want to acknowledge the length of time they have been supporting United Way throughout the years.

Thank you to our Community Partners who work tirelessly to support those most vulnerable in our community.

Sounds of the Next Generation
Every year, I do a little bit to help; I learn a little more; I connect with the cause, the staff, other volunteers, and the result is that my community benefits. Twenty years later, my knowledge of the cause I support and relationship with United Way is still increasing. What I witness is an organization that keeps adapting to help as many people in as many social scenarios as it can.”
– Anne Burnham, United Way Volunteer & Donor

Programs
Last year we celebrated our 22nd Annual Day of Caring with the most jobs and volunteers ever. We have a great group of Partners in Caring who work really hard each year to plan, organize, and execute the day for so many very grateful recipients each year. In 2019, we completed 42 jobs with the help of more than 175 volunteers.
In August we stuffed more than 1,200 back packs. Since the program started in 2005 it has grown in leaps and bounds with the support of so many business and industries. We have been able to put more than 17,000 back packs into our communities for students to get the best start as they begin each year.
An award-winning helpline and website that provides information on and referrals to community, social, health-related and government services. It is free, confidential, and accessible 24/7 with a live answer in over 150 languages. We are pleased to partner with Northumberland County Community and Social Services on the program to ensure the most up to date information is available for our community.
We want to recognize you.
