Community Partner Spotlight: Rebound Child & Youth Services

In this week’s Community Partner spotlight, we will be sharing impacts, stories, and testimonials from a charitable organization that aims to assist children and youth to reach their fullest potential.

With 17 people on staff, and a warm and inviting atmosphere, Rebound Child & Youth Services is providing free programming to children, youth, and their families throughout Northumberland County. Rebound has programs that are specifically designed with the support of children, youth, and families in mind, with four main service pathways that are identified as Mental Health Services, Youth Justice Services, Child & Youth Services, and the newest Family Wellness Hub. Rebound has supported 1,249 young people through its unique program and service model in the last fiscal year, and an additional 410 families through their coordination of the Triple P Positive Parenting Network.

Facilitated by a team of skilled mental health counsellors, Rebound’s mental health services connect children and youth with responsive and relevant support. Last fiscal year, Rebound supported 763 young people experiencing significant mental health issues through their Mental Health Services.

Rebound’s child and youth services provide young people with resources to help them achieve success in their lives by connecting them with individuals who serve as a personal support. Rebound supported 232 young people through their Child & Youth Services programs in the last fiscal year.

After a soft launch of its Family Check-Up and Everyday Parenting Programs this past summer, Rebound recently announced the launch of its expanded family supportive offering – the Family Wellness Hub. This collection of short and longer-term interventions is varied in approach, but each is designed to highlight family strengths in order to support families in creating positive change for the future. As with all of Rebound’s services, the Family Wellness Hub is accessible free of charge to any family with children living in Northumberland County.

Client Testimonial

“When I was 15, I was caught by the Police for being intoxicated in a public place. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to participate in the Diversion Program at Rebound. It gave me the chance to see the negative effects my choices were having, and turn myself around. I also started to choose better friends for myself. Thanks to the Diversion Program, I avoided a criminal charge that would have affected my career path today. The staff at Rebound are friendly, supportive, and non-judgmental.” – Client, Rebound Child & Youth Services.

Restorative justice focuses on understanding the harm caused and making reparations where possible with youth. Rebound’s youth justice services embrace this approach through diversion, court support, police, and community collaborations to give youth the ability to take accountability through a restorative process. Rebound supported 264 young people through their Youth Justice Services in the last fiscal year through both prevention and early intervention.
