For our final Community Partner spotlight, we will be highlighting an organization that is passionately committed to eradicating poverty and caring for those in need in our community.
The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada and more than 125 countries around the world. They offer practical assistance for children and families, often tending to the necessities of life, providing shelter for homeless people, rehabilitation, and more. The Salvation Army has grown to become the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in the country.
This year, 3,645 weekly dinners and 545 holiday dinners were provided through the local branch of The Salvation Army. Individuals and families also made 2,643 visits to The Salvation Army’s food bank this year.
The Cobourg Community and Family Services building located at 66 Swayne Street in Cobourg is currently undergoing renovations to better serve their clients. They are temporarily located at 259 Division Street in Cobourg until further notice.

Jason, a man in his 40’s suffers from diabetes. Jason and his wife both work part-time. His condition requires a special diet and medication. Jason has said that without The Salvation Army’s help with funding for his prescription and food vouchers he does not know how he would survive. His wife has said, “I can not thank you enough, it has lifted a weight off our shoulders.”
