Community Partner Spotlight: WrapAround Northumberland

We are excited to share some impacts, stories, and testimonials that you have made possible in this weeks Community Partner spotlight. WrapAround Northumberland falls under our building strong communities focus area. At United Way, we are helping to build a community that is more inclusive, equitable and accepting for all. Together, with your support, we are shaping Northumberland County into the home we all deserve.

WrapAround is an approach to helping families and children with complex needs find solutions and have a better life. Teams of family, friends and professionals are built and come together to “wrap” individual families in community supports.

WrapAround is rooted in the belief that people know what is best for them and what they need, and that all individuals have strengths and gifts to contribute. WrapAround also believes that local communities are full of resources and creativity and that communities and individuals are enriched as people work together. Families with their facilitator develop a plan that works towards their goals while utilizing the strengths of their family, community, local resources and both formal and informal supports. WrapAround is always family-driven and believe families know what they need and what is best for themselves.

Impact Stories

“There are times as a parent when you don’t know where to turn for help and you get frustrated trying everywhere you know and still coming up blank. WrapAround helped me to coordinate my numerous community and social service agencies into a support team working towards the same purpose: to make life better for me and my family.” – Parent

“The WrapAround process is tremendously motivating. When I meet clients, get to know them and hear their many hardships that might sink most people I marvel at their courage in carrying on. I feel a strong desire to help them in any way I can and find giving this help very fulfilling. It seems to me that the highest value we can have is to help one another and that is what WrapAround is all about.” – Facilitator
