October 1, 2020 – Northumberland United Way has kicked-off their 2020 annual campaign with a goal of ‘Rebuilding Northumberland County.’
We are in the middle of one of the greatest crises our community has ever seen, and resources continue to be strained. As we adapt and respond to emerging needs, we are focused on supporting programs and services that will help to rebuild a stronger, more equitable community for all.
“Over the past few months, we’ve learned some important lessons. Lessons like caring for your neighbour, the importance of doing your part to protect others, and recognizing and reaching out when others may be struggling,” says Bobbie Dawson, Executive Director, Northumberland United Way. “We’ve learned the importance of social connection in a time of physical distancing and that we are stronger together.”
This year, Northumberland United Way has decided not to set a fundraising goal and instead will be calling on every resident in Northumberland County to give all they can.
“We know that the need is greater than ever,” says Bobbie. “Each year, when we set a fundraising goal, we use careful predictions based on current economic growth, our workplace campaigns, and what is happening in the community. As things are continuing to change rapidly, we’ve instead opted to use last year’s achievement of $850,000 as a guide and focus on raising as much money as possible. Every dollar counts.”
The announcement also coincides with the beginning of Local Love Week in Northumberland County; a week to recognize the hardworking organizations in our community that have worked tirelessly to support those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please join Northumberland United Way and our ‘Rebuilding Northumberland County’ campaign to help us rebuild a stronger community where no one is left behind. The chance to create an even better Northumberland County is now.
