United Way Announces $35,000 Matching Gift Opportunity thanks to two local donors

During their 3rd annual Radiothon, Northumberland United Way announced a $35,000 matching gift opportunity thanks to the generosity of the Farren Family and a generous community donor.

These donors have stepped up to match donations made to United Way to double the impact in our community. When this matching opportunity is fulfilled that will mean a total of $70,000 raised to support our community.

“These investments are local, helping people right here in Northumberland County,” says Maggie Darling, Acting Executive Director, Northumberland United Way. “We are incredibly thankful for these donors, the Farren Family and the generous local donor who have made this matching gift possible.”

Every dollar donated will be matched, dollar for dollar. Whether a donor gives at the leadership level ($1,200 or more) or is giving as a first-time donor at the Everyday Hero level ($365 a year), to a maximum of $35,000.

The revenue generated through the matching gift will be invested into United Way’s Community Fund; specifically, into targeted strategies that were developed in consultation with the community. These strategies help to move people from poverty to possibility, build strong communities, and help kids be all they can be.
