Volunteer Week Spotlight: Christine Wilson

During National Volunteer Week, we’re shining a spotlight on our amazing volunteers at United Way Northumberland! Meet Christine!

Christine Wilson is part of the Executive Committee at United Way Northumberland. A retired media executive who moved to Colborne in 2019, Christine was enchanted by the peaceful living here surrounded by nature. But alongside the beauty, she witnessed communities grappling with access to healthcare and inclusion.

She saw that many people in Northumberland, including children and seniors were struggling to find housing and lived with food insecurity. A long-time community activist, Christine was overwhelmed by the breadth of need in the area, not knowing where to lend her volunteer efforts.

She, like all of us, sees the United Way as the organization that provides support to the entire community and can identify and act where the need is greatest.

For the last three years, Christine has helped at United Way with projects like the Community Impact (Funding) Allocations, Strategic Planning, Human Resources, and Communications. Through her work with United Way she has leveraged her career expertise to give back to her community. That’s exactly what she promised herself for retirement!
