Volunteer Week Spotlight: Linda Goldie

As National Volunteer Week wraps up, let’s shine a light on Linda! For 6 years, she’s been a vital part of United Way Northumberland’s Board of Directors.

After receiving an M.S.W. from U of T, Linda began a 35-year career in the field of child welfare in progressively senior positions. After retirement as the Director of Services at the Northumberland Children’s Aid Society, Linda had a private consulting practice for several years, primarily doing policy development, service audits and governance work. She has a long history of governance work serving on and chairing several Boards locally, provincially and internationally. Linda has been an active, committed member of the Board of Northumberland United Way for the past 6 years. In her words: “During my career in child welfare, I was constantly aware of the need for a wide range of services for vulnerable people as well as the service gaps and the need for funding for services. I feel that Northumberland United Way is well positioned to provide co-ordination of services and identification of gaps. By making financial allocations to various services based on an assessment of community impact, United Way is also well positioned to direct community donations in accordance with local needs.”
