It has been an exciting week here at United Way!
Monday marked the beginning of Local Love Week which was officially proclaimed by Northumberland County Council; on Tuesday, we hosted one of our Seeing is Believing Tours with two incredible community partners; and yesterday, we held our annual Radiothon with My Broadcasting Corporation. During which, we announced a $20,000 matching gift generously donated by the Farren Family! You could say it has been a great way to kick off our 2021 campaign, and we are just getting started!
As the week now draws to a close and we prepare for the Thanksgiving weekend ahead, we are feeling especially thankful for all of you. For all of the caring and supportive community members and businesses, who continue to support United Way and ensure that individuals in our community receive the support they need during some of their most difficult times.
This holiday, because of your support, families can enjoy a warm meal together, and mental health supports are available for those struggling with isolation and physical distancing measures. People like Shirley, who shared, “I don’t know what I would do without my Home Help worker.”
As you come (safely) together to celebrate this weekend, we ask you to consider, what are you thankful for? Maybe it’s your family, your friends, your home, or your health. We’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and how we can work together to create a community where all residents could say the same. We believe it’s the support of generous donors like you that will get us there.
Thank you for continuing to believe in the work of United Way and for your unwavering commitment to creating a community that is more inclusive, equitable and accepting for all.
Happy Thanksgiving!
