Northumberland Eats 2.0
In December 2020, Northumberland Eats launched, in partnership with Northumberland County, a food voucher program. This program facilitated by the Northumberland United Way (NUW) between government, individual donors, local service agencies, and the private sector has proved that when a community comes together it can do remarkable things to help people facing immediate food insecurity.
We are now expanding Northumberland Eats into Northumberland Eats 2.0, evolving it from a voucher-based program into a comprehensive initiative that tackles food security issues at a more foundational level. With the valuable support of Northumberland County and the insights gathered from our Community Matters survey, along with identifying the funding gaps from local food providers, NUW has developed five new grant stream directions to address these critical needs:
Applications are now closed for Feed and Grow grants.
We acknowledge that United Way Northumberland is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishnabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Ojibway/Chippewa peoples. As settlers, we’re grateful for the opportunity to live and work on this land and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land – for thousands of years.
