Our Team

Behind every great organization, there’s a team that makes each day better than the last. Our team is a dedicated group of professionals who each bring a unique skill set and perspective to the table. They all have one thing in common, a common goal to create a better life for everyone in Northumberland County.

Northumberland United Way is committed to creating a better life for everyone in Northumberland County. Leading the way is our hard-working staff team with more than 50 years of combined expertise.

Maggie Darling

Acting Executive Director

Maggie graduated from Ontario Tech University with her Bachelor of Communications and also has an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations from Durham College. She is currently in the Master of Communications Management program through McMaster University and Syracuse University.

Maggie first started at Northumberland United Way in 2015 as a part-time Campaign Associate. At the end of 2018, Maggie left United Way to move to Scotland for a year. She travelled to 14 different countries and worked in communications at the Glenmorangie Company and the Registers of Scotland. Maggie returned to United Way at the start of 2020, and since then, she has been promoted to the Director of Communications and Community Impact.

Maggie grew up in Cobourg and is passionate about making her community a better place for all. When she is not working, Maggie enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her labradoodle, Charlie.

Dianne Turk

Director, Resources Development

Prior to joining the Northumberland United Way team, Dianne spent 10 years in fundraising at the Women’s College Hospital Foundation and Sunnybrook Foundation. She has dedicated 15 years working at United Way and is currently the Director of Resource Development. Having been born and raised in Northumberland County and now raising her family here too, she cares deeply about helping people in her community. Her hope is that our community can be a place everyone feels safe and cared for.

Something personal about Dianne is that she is a dog lover and has two wonderful dogs!

Contact Dianne if you would like more information on volunteering, sponsorships, or campaigns.

Chelsea Rankin

Communications & Fundraiser Coordinator

Chelsea is the newest member of the Northumberland United Way team. She graduated from Conestoga College with her Bachelor of Public Relations. Before starting at United Way, Chelsea worked for not-for-profit organizations in the Durham Region including Habitat for Humanity and Simcoe Hall Settlement House. Having worked in a food bank during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chelsea saw firsthand the reality that not all individuals and families have access to adequate food, shelter, and clothing. This experience ignited her passion for making a difference in her community.

Chelsea is looking forward to meeting with individuals and businesses in Northumberland County to help tell their stories. When Chelsea is not working, you can find her walking her dogs or doing yoga.

Contact Chelsea if you would like more information on events or media.
