Alicia Vandine, CFRE

Executive Director

Alicia has worked in the not-for-profit sector for 24 years.  Before joining the Northumberland United Way team in January 2024, Alicia most recently worked for Community Care Peterborough as their Donor Relations and Communications Lead and previously with Community Care Northumberland as the Regional Community Relations Coordinator.  

A Certified Fundraising Executive, and when asked about what she loves about her job, “I am here to help donors and volunteers do amazing things in their communities.”

Building on the legacy of the Northumberland United Way, Alicia is anxious to raise its profile throughout Northumberland County, building on established partnerships and working to develop new ones.

A published writer, an avid golfer, and a recreational curler, Alicia is a proud representative of Northumberland County, a place she has called home for many years.

Darlene Robertson

Fund & Community Development Coordinator

Darlene Robertson joined Northumberland United Way as our new Fund & Community Development Coordinator, bringing a wealth of experience in event planning, strategic leadership, and community engagement.

With a proven track record in orchestrating high-impact charity events and fostering meaningful partnerships, Darlene is set to revolutionize our approach to donor relations and community development. Her expertise spans various sectors, including real estate associations, manufacturing, and chambers of commerce, giving her a unique perspective on aligning business goals with community needs.

Darlene’s innovative approach to fundraising and event management has consistently delivered high end results, from organizing charity golf tournaments that maximized revenue for foundations to coordinating large-scale professional development sessions and trade shows.

With Darlene joining our team, we’re elevating our entire approach to community impact. Darlene’s arrival signals a new era of growth and innovation for our organization, and we’re excited about the positive changes she brings to our community.

April Day

Communications & Fundraising Coordinator

As Communications and Fundraising Coordinator, April applies a unique blend of strategic storytelling and community-focused energy to her role. Her background is rooted in a decade at MuchMusic, “The Nation’s Music Station”, where she managed the Entertainment Newsroom and played a key role in the MusicMusic Video Awards, honing her skills in television production, talent relations, and project management on an international scale.

This experience is now dedicated to Northumberland County, where she finds a powerful alignment with the United Way’s mission to meet people where they are. April provides hands-on leadership for the Backpacks for Kids and Period Promise programs, ensuring resources reach those who need them most. 

A lifelong learner and creator, April is currently developing a one-woman show about dismantling the human narrative in response to trauma, a pursuit that deeply informs her parallel studies in Grief and Loss Support.
