United Way Northumberland Announces Festive Fundraiser at Barrett’s Christmas Tree Farm

“United Way Week” offers community a chance to give back while enjoying a holiday tradition.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COBOURG, ON — December 2025 – United Way Northumberland invites the community to celebrate the season and give back at the annual “United Way Week” hosted by Barrett’s Christmas Tree Farm. This cherished community tradition returns from December 8th to 14th, with a portion of every Fun Farm Ticket sold supporting United Way’s vital local programs in poverty reduction, food security, and mental health across Northumberland County.

This partnership offers families the perfect way to kick off their holiday celebrations while giving back. Guests are invited to experience the farm’s beloved attractions, including:

  • Meeting Luna the donkey and her animal friends (feed them hay!).
  • Roasting marshmallows at the campfire.
  • Exploring vintage tractors and an airplane for kids to climb.
  • Choosing a perfect cut-your-own tree or shopping in the charming workshop.

“This partnership with Barrett’s Christmas Tree Farm truly captures the spirit of giving in Northumberland,” said Alicia Vandine, Executive Director, United Way Northumberland. “It’s a wonderful example of how community partnerships can make a direct and meaningful difference. When families come out to enjoy the farm, they are also directly helping their neighbours in need.”

Special Awareness Day: Thursday, December 13th

The community is especially encouraged to visit on Thursday, December 13th, for a special United Way awareness day. Members of the United Way team will be on-site to share powerful stories of local impact and explain how every ticket purchased helps change lives in the areas of poverty alleviation, mental health, and food security.
